Talk-performance – Roda de Kizomba
On September 7 and 8, at 3pm, a Roda de Kizomba will take place at 35th Bienal de São Paulo.
Kizomba is a distinctive fusion of a dance and musical genre with roots in Angola that has been cultivated by the African diaspora in Portuguese-speaking communities. In the Roda de Kizomba, a talk-performance interspersed with musicians, DJs, and thinkers, reveals the many meanings of this rhythmic music and its history of resistance and poetry. The performance on September 7 will feature Grada Kilomba, part of the curatorial collective of the 35th Bienal, Dino d’Santiago, Kady and Djodje, and the performance on September 8 will feature Grada Kilomba, Kalaf Epalanga, Indi Mateta and João Reis. No registration is required and admission is free.
