December 2 (Saturday), 11 am
From mud to chaos – The materiality that transmutes the fabrication of a future ancestry
Mediation: Iberê Terra

Based on the verse “da lama ao caos/do caos à lama” [from mud to chaos, from chaos to mud], from the song by Chico Science and Nação Zumbi, and the song Da lama / Afrontamento, by Tássia Reis, the visit proposes to approach the mud element in its materiality, versatility and transformation. An invitation to the end of the world as we know it, with a glimpse of reconstruction through the advice of our elders. We will visit works by artists such as Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro, Ibrahim Mahama, Marilyn Boror Bor and Rommulo Vieira Conceição.

December 2 (Saturday), 3 pm
Crossroads and ancestry
Mediation: Leonel Vicente Mendes

The visit aims to discuss similarities and differences between elements present in symbols and objects from some ethnic groups, mainly from Guinea-Bissau, and works featured in the 35th Bienal, such as those by Ana Pi and Taata Kwa Nkisi Mutá Imê and Ayrson Heráclito and Tiganá Santana. Rites and ceremonies will be discussed, such as weddings, funerals and other events, which aim to create a link between materiality and collective spirituality.

December 2 (Saturday), 7 pm
Cultural decolonization in cinema: who tells our story?
mediation: Cristina Mena

The visit proposes to discuss counter-narratives in cinema, questioning simplistic and distorted representations of non-dominant cultures, native peoples, racialized groups and people with diverse gender identities. Works by artists such as Aida Harika Yanomami, Edmar Tokorino Yanomami and Roseane Yariana Yanomami, Kidlat Tahimik, Sarah Maldoror and Trinh T. Minh-ha will be discussed, based on their text “From the outside in, from the inside out”, included in the second movement of the 35th Bienal’s educational publication.
